Medical Emergencies Training

Aims:
To enhance learners’ ability to recognize, assess, and manage both adult and pediatric medical emergencies within a primary dental setting.

Objectives:

1. Train participants to perform urgent care assessments of ill patients.
2. Outline processes and procedures for recognizing and managing medical emergencies, including providing basic and immediate life support.
3. Identify essential emergency drugs and equipment for dental surgeries.
4. Explain the importance of a team approach in managing medical emergencies.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Identify severe medical events requiring urgent hospital admission.
2. Recognize, manage, and provide basic and immediate life support for emergencies according to UK Resuscitation Council guidelines.
3. Identify, prescribe, and administer emergency drugs appropriately.
4. Facilitate a coordinated team response to effectively handle rare but critical medical emergencies.
