Aims:
To enhance learners’ ability to recognize, assess, and manage both adult and pediatric medical emergencies within a primary dental setting.
Objectives:
- Train participants to perform urgent care assessments of ill patients.
- Outline processes and procedures for recognizing and managing medical emergencies, including providing basic and immediate life support.
- Identify essential emergency drugs and equipment for dental surgeries.
- Explain the importance of a team approach in managing medical emergencies.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify severe medical events requiring urgent hospital admission.
- Recognize, manage, and provide basic and immediate life support for emergencies according to UK Resuscitation Council guidelines.
- Identify, prescribe, and administer emergency drugs appropriately.
- Facilitate a coordinated team response to effectively handle rare but critical medical emergencies.
