Hygienist Program

Aims and Objectives:

• History and Diagnosis: Understanding the historical and diagnostic aspects of dental hygiene.
• BPE and Six Point Period Pocket Charting: Training in Basic Periodontal Examination (BPE) and Six Point Pocket charting techniques.
• New Periodontal Classification: Learning about the latest classifications in periodontal disease.
• Patient Communication: Enhancing skills in effective patient communication.
• Oral Hygiene Instructions: Providing comprehensive oral hygiene instructions to patients.
• Effective Work Practices: Strategies for working efficiently in a dental setting.
• Record-Keeping on SOE: Using the SOE (Software of Excellence) for accurate record-keeping.
• Hands-On Training: Practical experience with hand and ultrasonic scalers.
• Air Prophy and Micro-Abrasion: Techniques for stain removal including air prophy and micro-abrasion training.

Fee: £275 (£50 deposit to confirm reservation; remaining balance due in cash on the day of the course)

Therapist Program

Aims and Objectives:

• Scope of Practice: Understanding the scope of practice for dental therapists.
• Hands-On Training: Practical training with matrix bands, composites, and Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC).
• History and Diagnosis: Learning history-taking and diagnostic skills relevant to dental therapy.
• Efficient Record-Keeping: Recording patient conversations and notes effectively.
• Treatment Planning and Record Keeping: Creating and maintaining treatment plans.
• Patient Journey and Liaison with Nurse: Managing the patient journey and collaborating with dental nurses.
• Hands-On Training: Practical experience in examination, X-ray taking, managing difficult cases, and performing multiple restorations.
• Local and Topical Anaesthesia: Administering local and topical anaesthesia.
• Tooth Whitening: Techniques for effective tooth whitening.
