Most frequent questions and answers
MFDS is the acronym for Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery. Passing the MFDS examination entitles you to become a member of a UK Royal College.
MFDS is an internationally recognised qualification. It is also recognised by all of the UK Royal Colleges.
Yes. Once you have passed the exam and are admitted as a member of a Royal College you will be entitled to use
the letters MFDS RCPS(Glasg) or MFDS RCS (Eding) or MFDS RCS(Eng) depending upon which college you have taken the exam with. You have to ensure that you are at good standing with the relevant Royal College.
Part 2 MFDS exam can be taken after passing Part 1 MFDS and having completed 12 months’ postgraduate
experience in clinical dentistry.
